Meet Susan and John Hendry
We didn't set out to start a beef company. We set out to raise cattle properly.
Our family's connection to Angus cattle goes back over 200 years, to the glens of Scotland where our Hendry and Henderson ancestors grazed the original breed. Those early farmers selected for what mattered: flavour, tenderness, natural marbling, and the ability to thrive on grass alone.
When we moved to Arrawatta Station in the New England region of NSW, we saw a chance to honour that legacy. Not by scaling up, but by going deeper. One farm. One breed. One way of doing things.
Why We Started
The Reason Behind It All
We founded Native Angus Beef because we couldn't find beef we trusted.
Most Angus cattle today have been crossbred for size and speed, then grain-finished in feedlots. The result is a product that's fast and efficient to produce, but a long way from what Angus beef was meant to be.
We wanted to go back to the beginning. Heritage genetics, raised entirely on pasture, finished slowly, with no grain, no hormones, no antibiotics, and no synthetic chemicals. Ever.
Not because it's trendy. Because it produces better beef, and because the land and the animals are better for it.
What We've Built
From Paddock to Your Door
Today, Native Angus Beef is a fully integrated operation. Our cattle are born, raised, and finished on Arrawatta Station. Our in-house butchery team prepares every cut. And we deliver fresh to families across QLD, NSW, and VIC.
There are no middlemen. No anonymous supply chain. We control every stage, and we take responsibility for all of it.
Along the way, we've had our farming verified by the Savory Institute and Sustainable Table, and our beef independently tested to confirm higher omega-3s, CLA, and a healthier fat profile than grain-fed beef.
We didn't build this system to win awards. We built it so you'd never have to wonder where your beef comes from.

In early 2026, we brought our butchery in-house. It's a step we've been working towards for a long time, and it changes what we can promise you.
With our own artisan butchery team now preparing every cut, the connection between how our cattle are raised at Arrawatta Station and the beef that arrives at your door is tighter than ever. We control consistency. We honour the whole animal. And we can stand behind every cut with full confidence, because our hands are on it from paddock to packaging.
It's another piece of the system we're building: one farm, one breed, one team, full accountability.
