Meet John and Susan Hendry, Co-Founders of Native Angus Beef

Our story begins 200 years ago in the glens of Scotland, where our Hendry and Henderson ancestors grazed the original Angus cattle. These early farmers carefully selected for quality - flavour, texture and marbling - not just yield.

Today, we’re proud to continue that legacy from our home in the New England region of New South Wales - one of Australia’s premium grazing areas. On Arrawatta Station, we raise a unique line of Native Angus cattle that still carry the traits that made Angus beef renowned around the world.

We do it with care for our animals, for the land, and for your health.

A Return to Real Beef

We founded Native Angus Beef with a clear purpose: to raise beef the way our ancestors did.

Our cattle live entirely on pasture. They’re never given grain, hormones, antibiotics or synthetic chemicals - ever. Just fresh air, clean water and diverse forage.

We farm slowly and intentionally, using regenerative methods that improve soil health, increase biodiversity and support long-term sustainability. From the quality of our grasses to the calm way we handle our animals, everything we do is designed to produce exceptional beef - naturally.

Our Vision

We believe everyone should be able to enjoy nutrient-rich, great-tasting beef without compromising their health or the environment.

That’s why our vision brings together:

  • Trusted Native Angus genetics that thrive on pasture
  • The natural advantages of Australia’s mineral-rich grasslands
  • Proven land and livestock management that supports ecosystem health and resilience

Our goal is to produce outstanding grass-fed and finished beef, using methods that restore the land and nourish the people who eat it.

Our Promise

When you choose Native Angus Beef, you’re choosing beef that is:

  • Raised entirely on our farm, from birth through to harvest
  • Grass-fed and grass-finished, with no grain or synthetic inputs
  • Free from hormones, antibiotics and pesticides
  • Naturally rich in vitamins, minerals and key nutrients
  • Tender, flavourful and true to the Angus name

Good for you. Good for the animals. Good for the land.

Thank you for choosing Native Angus Beef.
