Arrawatta Station - An Australian Yellowstone
Share
In Montana, USA, it’s Yellowstone – the Dutton Ranch. In the New England region of Australia, it’s Arrawatta Station – home of Native Angus Beef.
Though separated by oceans and continents, these two storied places share one crucial trait: a deep commitment to preserving the old ways of raising cattle.
At Arrawatta Station, our methods are rooted in tradition and respect for the land, producing grass-fed and finished beef that is unmatched in quality and flavor. Just like the Dutton Ranch in Yellowstone, we honor the legacy of those who came before us while working tirelessly to preserve it for generations to come.
A Legacy of Quality Beef and Sustainable Farming
Arrawatta Station has stood the test of time, with over a hundred years of farming history in one of Australia’s prime grazing regions. And our Native Angus cattle carry genetics originally selected by Scots farmers for quality eating and unaltered by infusion of other breeds for over 200 years, making them one of the rarest herds in Australia. These heritage genetics are central to the unique characteristics of our beef - rich in flavour, tender, as well as being nutrient-dense.
We believe in doing things the right way, not the fast way. Our grass-fed beef is raised on lush pastures and our cattle are never consigned to industrial feedlots. From farm to fork, every step of our process is designed to respect both the animals and the environment, ensuring that our beef is as sustainable as it is delicious. Studies show that raising cattle this way can increase root growth, reduce decomposition, and change plant composition, which can lead to increased carbon capture and reduced emissions. While many farms sell the carbon credits generated by their cattle to mitigate pollution by others, we retain them so that our cattle can make a positive contribution to a better world.
Why Grass-Fed and Finished Beef Matters
Grass-fed and finished beef is more than a label - it’s a promise. Unlike grain-fed beef, which can sacrifice flavour and nutrition for efficiency, our cattle graze freely on native pastures their entire lives. This results in beef with a more complex flavour profile, higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids, and no added hormones or antibiotics.
When you choose grass-fed steaks from Native Angus Beef, you’re not just supporting sustainable farming practices - you’re investing in your health and the health of the planet.
Calm Cattle, Better Beef
At Arrawatta Station, our cattle are mustered calmly, often on horseback, using techniques that are sympathetic to the peaceful existence to which they are accustomed. This low-stress approach not only improves the well-being of our animals but also enhances the quality of our beef. Stress-free cattle produce tender, flavourful meat that reflects the care they’ve received throughout their lives.
It’s a method that works - one we’ll proudly stick to, no matter how much faster or cheaper modern methods may be.
Sticking to the Proven Ways
There are easier ways to produce beef. But they’re not better. At Arrawatta Station, we choose tradition over shortcuts and quality over compromise.
So, if you want beef that reflects integrity, sustainability, and taste, look no further than Native Angus Beef. And if you don’t? Well, we’ll show you the Train Station.
